You will be treated respectfully and fairly in a safe and welcoming setting. Our expert staff will work with you to develop a plan to help you fulfil your potential and work towards your ambitions.

We provide support in building a CV, help searching for and applying for jobs, or support preparing for an interview. We can also provide you with ongoing information, advice and guidance once you have successfully secured a post.

DurhamWorks is an inclusive programme working with a diverse range of young people across County Durham to remove any barriers preventing you from progressing.

We can subsidise the initial transport, childcare or clothing costs associated with your new role and help you budget for these costs. We also have funding for employers to create employment opportunities for young people.

This project is funded by the UK government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

We will support you throughout your journey

When you come to DurhamWorks, the help you receive is tailored exactly to your needs. Guided by us every step of the way, you will work through these stages.

Welcome session

You will meet your own friendly and qualified advisor. They will tell you about DurhamWorks and how we can help you.

Initial assessment

We will work with you to identify your goals and ambitions, identify your strengths and see where we can support you to help you progress. This can include identifying support with your maths and English if this is something you would like to improve.

Action plan

We will work with you to develop an action plan that is sure to set you on the road to success. We will give you the tools to create a quality CV and continue to amend it to build on your success.

Training

We will help you develop new skills or update the ones you have. You may require training such as practical courses specific to your chosen field. Whatever your needs and interests, your advisor will be able to help you investigate fully.

Mentoring and support

We will give you all the help you need along the way and will even support you once you are in a job if you still need us.

Money

If you need a hand paying for travel, equipment, clothing or childcare, we will help you find that support. Employers may also be eligible for financial help in funding your role.

Other support (when life gets in the way)

We strive to tackle any other problems stopping you from taking part in DurhamWorks. We are aware sometimes that life can get difficult and challenges may come our way. We will not judge you and will help whatever your circumstances.
